PiKoYa, headquartered in Haifa, Israel, has grown into a major force in the gaming industry. Originating from a small apartment with three founders passionate about gaming, the company now achieves about 100 million monthly page views and serves approximately 1 million daily visitors.

Goal

As PiKoYa continued to grow, they sought to replicate the successful monetization strategies they employed in their app store offerings on their websites. Their primary goal was to maximize ad revenue without compromising the user experience, a challenge they had faced with other solutions and formats.  It was during this phase that Google approached PiKoYa to pilot the AdSense H5 Game Ads solution and integrate interstitial and rewarded video ads into their games for testing.

Approach

To achieve their goal of maximizing ad revenue while preserving user experience, PiKoYa implemented H5 Games Ads and began rigorously testing their placements using Google Analytics. Additionally, they developed a robust infrastructure for real-time monitoring of traffic and website performance to quickly identify and address any issues that could negatively impact user experience or revenue.

Results

The implementation of H5 Games Ads proved to be a game-changer for PiKoYa, resulting in a 26% increase in ad revenue. Additionally, PiKoYa achieved impressive user engagement metrics, with some games seeing over 60% of users engaged for more than 5 minutes and 66% of those continuing to play for over 30 minutes.

As a next step in their evolution, PiKoYa developed the Monstera Games Platform, enabling publishers to add PiKoYa's games seamlessly to their website. Fully integrated with AdSense for Platform, publishers get access to hundreds of original titles with advanced ad monetization options, real-time reporting, and direct payments via their AdSense accounts.  With this solution available worldwide, PiKoYa has forged several strategic partnerships, most notably with Israel's leading news site, Walla, to launch a dedicated web gaming section, with the goal of improving user retention and interaction.
